Science storms school

by

Deborah

Donaldson

andEiLeenVoon To stimulate the mental abilities of Raetihi Primary children, science adviser, Mr Dave McCrae, from the Palmerston North College of Education, has been demonstrating to teachers and students the new and improved fun way of teaching science. • This week in the

Junior Syndicate, the children have started gymnastics as part of their fitness curriculum. Something to look forward to is the Junior Syndicate's Jump Rope for Heart which will be held some time after the August holidays. • As a result of cold, wintry frosts bursting pipes in Room 9, the Bilingual Unit were tem-

porarily in Room 10 but are now back in their freshly carpeted classrooms. "We are very pleased to be back in our classroom," said Mrs Shirley Coogan, bilingual teacher. • On Thursday afternoon Room 9 made popcorn as part of the Science programme which the whole school is participating in. The topic

that they are studying is 'Cooking in Science', which is great fun for all. • The Senior Syndicate are soon going to hit the slopes with school skiing. Fundraising has been excellent and has helped the children 's fares. A clothing check took place on Wednesday 4 August to ensure the children have appropriate clothing for the alpine weather.
