College pupil wins science dollars
Craig McDonough of Ruapehu College is one of just five New Zealand pupils to be awarded a $4500 Bayer New Zealand science scholarship. His name was selected from a number nominated by various schools around the country. He will receive a cheque for $1500 each of
three years to be used for university fees, provided he studies science related subjects. Craig plans to work on either a Bachelor of Technology or Bachelor of Engineering degree, either at Massey or Canterbury. "Craig won the scholarship through a range of criteria, including taking the right subject areas,"
said Ruapehu College principal Harry Cast, "and he also worked hard to achieve in all aspects of school life." Craig, from Raetihi, said his father was really pleased to see him going on to university and that the scholarship would be very helpful. Craig' s father is a truck driver with Charmichael's transport.
