Race series fun for young

The largest Junior Ski Race series in New Zealand kicked off on 25 July at Turoa with race one of the three-race Diet Pepsi series. The races down the Giant Slalom course have a format similar to World Cup Ski Racing. The races have been established to provide a fun yet competitive experience for young, up and coming ski racers in New Zealand. The series aims to develop the potential of young racers and over the long term help to turn out more skiers like Annelise Coberger and Simon Wi Rutene. While being very competitive at the top end, the series also provides an opportunity for any young skiers to have a go at skiing through a Giant Slalom course getting an official time but also having a bit of fun. Competitors do not have to be a member of a ski club to participate. The Diet Pepsi series caters for skiers in the J2 (born 77/78), J3 (born

79/80), J4 (born 81/82) Winners are established and J5 (bom 83 and later) for each of the three races age groups.
