Ron Martin wasn't going to take last week's defeat lying down, he teamed up with regular partner Heather Cranston and together they blitzed the opposition to win the northsouth competition with a score of 58.38%. Lauretta Eades and Pauline Le Noel scored 52.10% to finish in second place. First place in the eastwest direction was won by Jack McLean and Judith Hollyer who have been playing consistently well all year.

Their score of 60.51% was the top overall score for the evening. Gordon and Jenny Mottram were promoted to second place with an adjusted score of 55.53% which meant relegation to third for Betty Hammond and Rita Kaiwhare who finished on 48.88%.
