Another Raetihi building is on the council's list of derelict buildings. Ohakune water Once again samples of Ohakune' s water have showed the presence of coliform contamination and the back-up chlorination system initiated. The council's July activity report states the ul-tra-violet system is now back in use. The report said it was possible that the sample was contaminated. The report also stated that the work on the system 's intake modifications, to overcome a vortex problem, had been held up by inclement weather. Reserves work In Ohakune 's reserves, staff have been carrying out winter tree pruning, removing dead and diseased wood, damaged limbs and pruning from under wires. Ohakune 's walking tracks were being upgraded, with culverts being repaired, soft spots metalled and steps repaired. A large number of rocks were removed from the turf in the Mangawhero Terrace reserve, which were protruding through the turf, making mowing difficult. Building consents The proprietors of two commercial buildings in Ohakune had both proceeded with major work without the proper building consents, the report stated under its "Regulation" heading. The matters were being investigated. Power displays Displays showing Electricity Corporation of New Zealand's (ECNZ) Tongariro Power Scheme are to be set up in the Ruapehu Visitors Centre in Ohakune and the Taumarunui Information Centre over the next few months. The displays are part of the deal with ECNZ for $240,000 in sponsorship of the information centres.
