The Ruapehu District Council last week resolved to limit the number of mobile 'shops' operating a chain-hire service on the Ohakune Mountain Road to two. During the past two winters there have been mobile shops operating on the Ohakune Mountain Road, one in 1991 and two last year. These businesses are providing a good service to users of the road when the road surface is affected by ice and snow. At its Special Meeting in Taumarunui last Wednesday Ruapehu District councillors endorsed the resolution to "limit the number of Mobile Shop licences operating on the Ohakune Mountain Road for the purpose of chain hire and/or fitting to a maximum of two" and that "preference will be given to a previous licence holder
