Powderhorn goes up
The Powder Horn Ski Shop is going to great heights to accommodate its clientele. The brand-new top floor opened recently for business and gives another 1000 square feet of space to the existing retail outlet. Replete with this season's adults and children' s ski and leisure
fashions, the addition also houses a wide range of ski accessories. A full range of accessories including neckwarmers, hats, gloves and sunglasses are displayed to their best, offset by the warm glow of highly polished natural wood floors and beams. Potted palms and ferns and a brass ceiling fan add the final touch of fi-
nesse. Top brand names such as Rip Curl, Oliphant, Couloir, Kathmandu - and the Powderhorn's own exclusive Ozone range - rub shoulders with the young and trendy Karucci and Hot Buttered labels, in sizes
8-14 (especially for the youngsters.) The upper level frees up the lower half of the shop, the front for retail saies and the rear for ski, mountain bike and snowboard rental. Owner Paul Scarf began building the Powder
Horn's addition virtually single-handedly, shortly before Easter. The over-hanging eaves, reminiscent of a Swiss chalet, frame the expansive open verandah accessed from the upper storey via french doors.
