KCE plan okayed

King Country Energy has finally had its establishment plan approved by the Minister of Energy. The plan, which called for the establishment of a 100 per cent customer trust, had been stalled by a possible claim under the Waitangi Tribunal. General manager Peter Till said the King Country Electric Power Board should become King Country Energy Limited from 1 July, after the necessary legal formalities have been completed. "The meeting of the King Country Electric Power Board, on Friday 18 June, will bring to an

end an era that has spanned 50 years," said MrTill. "We are looking forward to competing successfully in the new environment. We have already had a number of enquiries from potential customers outside our area seeking to take advantage of King Country Energy's very competitive tariffs."
