Refuse goals set down
Among the objectives set for the disposal of refuse within the Ruapehu District Council for the 1993-94 year is the following: To utilise the best practical options for the management of the District's household and commercial refuse and hazardous waste, using environmentally, culturally and socially acceptable techniques. In order to achieve this several performance measures have been proposed including: • Maintain a com-
plaint level regarding refuse collection at less than 5% per year of the number of properties to which a refuse collection service is provided. • Follow up all complaints regarding refuse collection within four hours. • To establish a landfill, re-cycling and chemical wastes policy. • To have all applicants for resource consents for all RDC landfills lodged with the Manawatu-Wanganui Regional Council by 30 June 1994.
