Fancy dress finishes pony season

Saturday 8 May dawned bright and sunny for the Ohakune branch of the Waimarino Pony Club break up, helping to make it a most enjoyable and successful day. The Fancy Dress Competition proved very difficult to judge with great costumes ranging from headless horsemen to ghosts, and Humpty Dumpty on his wall to cowboys. Melanie Mitchell did a great job awarding everyone rosettes with Robbie Hill and Shelly Gotlieb first equal; Victoria Duigan and Connie Cooper second equal, Hone Brausch

and Angela Ball third equal, and Chris Liddle and Alison Munn fourth equal. A good varied programme of games and novelty jumping followed including 'Give Us A Clue', chocolate fish, keyhole, barrel racing, jelly bean game and an obstacle jump. The prize-giving was held at 3pm, followed by afternoon tea at the Warren's farm. The club was pleased to welcome Raetihi instructors Nicki Williams and Heather Lilburn to the event and club trophies were awarded by Ian and Ann

Roke - two very supportive club members. Head Instructor Evelyn Cooper thanked everyone for their help

throughout the season and reminded riders to drench their ponies before tuming them out for the winter. Results: Attendance,
