Plunket gives for Founders' Day
Brianette Manuel was the lucky recipient of a gift from the Waiouru Plunket committee this week. Her parents have six months free car seat rental because she is the Waiouru baby born closest to the Plunket Society's Founders Day, 14 May 1993. At their last meeting the Waiouru Plunket Committee decided to celebrate every Founders Day by giving free rental of a car seat to the baby born closest to noon that day. Brianette was born at Taihape on 8 May. She is the first child of Yvette and Gene Manuel. Committee members were surprised to have to wait so long to confirm her eligibility for the car seat. "There was a baby due on Monday [17 May] so we had to wait a full week to be sure that Brianette was the baby closest to Founders Day," said car
seat coordinator, Liz Ogilvie. The Plunket society offer both infant and child car seats at nominal rental of less than $10 per month. Liz is also happy to negotiate rates for short term rentals. "Sometimes people just want a car seat over the holidays or just for a couple of weeks while people come to stay. That's fine. We're here to provide a service. "People can contact us on the answerphone 387 6230 and leave a message or come in to our office in the Community Health Rooms on Thursdays between 1 and 3pm. "We want to encourage people to book in early and bring the seats back on time. It helps us to plan ahead if we know people will be needing them." Waiouru Plunket also have portacots available for short or long term hire.
