Raetihi Seniors lost against Marton on Saturday 22 May. The full-time score was 2215. Eight minutes into the game D McDonnell received a cut to the head so he had to remain off the field until the £leeding was stopped. Marton scored the first points of the game
when J Hainsworth scored a try. P Trow of Raetihi retaliated by making a good break which enabled C Bishop to score. Each team had one attempt at kicking a penalty but both were unsuccessful. D McDonnell returned to the game just before half-time. The half-time score was five all. K Chase and N Bell went on for Marton at half-time and they kept control of
the game. Two minutes into the second-half K Chase put up a big 'up and under' and as a result J Stanshaw scored. N Bell scored Marton's third try which was converted by P Gaplin. Further into the game N Bell of Marton was sinbinned. Twenty-five minutes into the second-half Raetihi player P Trow was sent off to clean blood of his face, returning to the game soon after. Raetihi player M Wihare scored a try between the posts which
was converted by D McDonnell. Marton player N Bell scored the final try of the game bringing the fulltime score to 22-15 to Marton. C Wilson was named player of the day for Raetihi and M Field was named player of the day for Marton. Scorers: Raetihi - Tries C Bishop and M Wihare; - Conversion D McDonnell; Penalty D McDonnell. Marton - Tries J Hainsworth, J Stanshaw and N Bell (2); - Conversion P Gaplin.
