Ohakune and Raetihi Police had a busy week attending a number of break-ins and incidents in both townships. • On Monday 10 May a Rimu Street, Ohakune residence was burgled. A list of property stolen in the break-in is still being compiled by Police. • Overnight Tuesday 11 May, a garage at an Islington Street, Raetihi address was burgled. Police enquiries are continuing. • Police are investigating the vandalism of two Raetihi businesses overnight Tuesday 11 May. The premises of Elders Pastoral and the Wellington Cafe, in Seddon Street, both received broken windows. • On the same night a Queen Street, Raetihi address was broken into. Four interior doors and tiles from a kitchen bench were stolen. The same house was burgled a second time and a kent tile fire was removed. • Overnight Wednesday 12 May, the Ruapehu District Council's Parapara Road depot was burgled. • On the same night offenders syphoned petrol from a vehicle parked at a Grey Street, Raetihi address. • The Waimarino Vet Clinic in Seddon Street, Raetihi received a smashed window overnight Thursday 13 May. • Vandals smashed the letterbox of an Arawa Street, Ohakune address sometime on Saturday 15 May. • Police are investigating the burglary of the Ohakune Primary School on Sunday 16 May. No list of property stolen in the break-in was available. • The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesseses in Ohakune was also burgled the same night, with a small amount of cash taken. • Local police and the Wanganui Armed Defenders Squad attended a domestic incident between a husband and wife at a Smith's Road, Ohakune address at 3.30pm on Sunday 16 May. A local man appeared in the Wanganui District Court yesterday charged with assault, drunken charge of a firearm, and a separate charge of posession of a firearm. • Overnight Sunday 16 May, Cedar Service Station in Ohakune was burgled. A 1971 Ford Falcon 500 was taken from the premises and later recovered behind a holiday home in Pitt Street, Raetihi. A 17-year old youth will appear in the Ohakune District Court this month to face charges relating to the incident.
