Steam train Thursday
Main Trunk Rail Ohakune introduces the Chrunchie Train, due to arrive in the Ruapehu District at 2.00pm on Thursday afternoon, 20 May. Ka945, the steam train many Waimarino folk are already familiar with, has taken on the role of the Chrunchie Train as in the famous television advertisement. Children are invited to take a ride on the train as it passes through the district, for the princely
sum of one Chrunchie Bar wrapper. After leaving Waiouru, the train arrives in Ohakune at 4.15pm, and, leaves Ohakune at 5.15pm for Taumarunui. For every wrapper handed in Cadbury will donate 10 cents to the "Make a Wish" Foundation, a group that helps make sick children's wishes come true. MTRO points out that children under seven years old must be accompanied by an adult.
