Snow shows

By

Sarah King

Retailers, ski areas and services from the Ruapehu region have been showing off their stuff at the 1993 snow shows, being held in Wellington, Hamilton and Auckland. Ski Ruapehu, Turoa Ski Resort and Whakapapa Ski Area have each had stalls at the shows, with staff working alongside each other to promote skiing at Ruapehu. Ski industry - related businesses from all over New Zealand have been attending the shows, promoting their respective areas, and the Ski Ruapehu group this year highlighted the many other activities available to visitors in the region as well as skiing. Turoa Ski Resort has been running two competitions for snow show visitors - a free 8-Day - Anytime pass per show, and a trip to Keystone Ski Resort, Colorado, to be drawn later in the season. Whakapapa 's marketing manager, Scott Lee, says the response from the public for this time of year has been overwhelming.
