Raetihi seniors
BY SHELLYOFRIC Raetihi Seniors lost 83-0 on Saturday 8 May against Waverley played in Waverley. C Carrick scored the first try for Waverley in the first five minutes, converted by G Lennox. Five minutes later G Lennox kicked the only successful penalty of the game. S Pye scored the next try for Waverley seven minutes later which was converted and two minutes later G Lennox scored and converted a try bringing the score to 24-0 after 20 minutes of playing. After a further five minutes of playing D Brooks scored a try which was converted. Raetihi managed to keep Waverley from scoring for the next 10 minutes but C Skedgewell managed to break-through the defence and score a try which was converted. Two minutes later G Lennox scored and converted the last try of the first-half taking the halftime score to 45-0 to Waverley. Two of Raetihi's players left the field with injuries, A McCann left the field 10 minutes after play started with a handinjury and was replaced by D Oakley. Just before half-time D Oakley left the field with a ham-string-injury. In the first 15 minutes of the second-half Waverley scored three more tries, two of which were converted by G Lennox and the tries were scored by M Nivvon (1) and S Pye (2). Raetihi's defence became stronger for the next 15 minutes which kept Waverley from scoring but G Lennox found the gap and scored another try which he converted. Five minutes later D Brooks scored a try which was converted bringing the score to 780 with five minutes Tent aining. M Nivvons scored the last try of the game in the closing minutes which was not converted, making the full-time score 83.0 to Waverley. Tries: C Skedgewell 1, G Carrick 1, D Brooks 2, M Nivvons 2, S Pye 3, G Lennox 3 tries, 1 penalty and 10 conversions. Waverley picked Guy Lennox as their player of the day and Paul Trow as Raetihi's player of the day. Raetihi picked Carl Eaton as their player of the day.
