Pony Club

BY]

EVELYN

COOPER

The Ohakune Branch of the Waimarino Pony club held their AGM on 19 April with 50 percent attendance of members' parents. The season 's reports were presented. Last years subscriptions barley covered the running expenses of the club and due to the NZPCA affiliation fees rising, next years subscriptions will be increased to $50 for one riding member, plus $15 for extra riding members in the family. Fees may be paid by instalments if necessary and may be paid anytime between now and November. Competition days usually boost club funds but as they are weather-dependant they cannot be relied upon. With all the rallies and privileges available to members last year's instruction worked out at 58 cents an hour which is a far cry from the $20 per hour plus that is normal for instruction outside Pony Clubs, if and when it is available in this area. Few office bearers changed and for the coming season they are: Patron I Roke; President J Brausch; Secretary/treasurer E Gotlieb; Head Instructor

and publicity E Cooper; Instructors D Hill, H Cooper and any other willing helpers; Branch delegates to the Waimarino Pony Club and King Country Area J Brausch, E Gotlieb and E Cooper. The season is nearly over with the break-up day on Saturday 8 May at Warrens Farm. A fancy dress competition (pony and rider) is scheduled for 10.30am at the farm, followed by games and novelty jumping in the pony club paddock and back to the farm for prize-giving at 3pm. Should the weather be wet the prizegiving will be held at Gotlieb 's residence at 7pm the same day. The club hopes all parents and interested members of the public will join them for all or part of the day. Raetihi The Annual General Meeting of the Waimarino Pony Club was held 27 April. The President's and co-ordi-nator's reports were read containing what the club had achieved over the 1992/93 season. Included in the report was thanks to instructors, office bearers and helpers. The two main pomts of the agenda discussed were the 1993/94 subs and election of officers. The subs for the 1993/94 season are: First child $40 and one adult $10 total $50, second child $15, family $65. A social membership fee of $15 has been added this year although special conditions apply. The election of officers was also voted upon with the following positions being filled: president Alison McGregor; secretary Wayne Nicholls; assistant secretary Adriene Maru; co-or-dinator Heather Lilburn; hostess Maureen Edgarton; publicity officer Jackie Henderson. The delegates to the Waimarino and King Country Area pony clubs are Nicky Williams, Heather Lilburn and Glenys Langdon.
