Rural education council chair changes

The Ruapehu REAP council has a new chairperson. Harry Cast, Principle of Ruapehu College, replaces Tauri Morgan. Mr Morgan has been involved with REAP for the past six years, most of these as the chair. At the second Annual General meeting of the incorporated society held Monday

26 April Mr Morgan failed to gain an independent place on the council. Members of the society present at the meeting * voted to decide which of the four people nominated would fill the three independent places required by the constitution. First time candidates Viv Bird (Taihape) and Te Uta

Hibbard (Waimarino) along with Harry Cast were successful. The meeting was well attended with all but three of the 17 council places being filled. Representatives for the Tamaupoko Trust and Primary School Interests are still to decided upon by the relevant groups. Federated Farmers repre-

sentative, Neil McNeill retained the position of deputy chair. Both Mr Cast and Mr McNeill were elected to their positions unopposed. The Ruapehu REAP council is made up of 17 members; 11 from specified sector groups, three from other interest groups and three independent candidates.
