Ohakune Police have been involved in three separate arrests in the past week. • A 22-year old Raetihi man was arrested following a domestic assault that occurred on Sunday 25 April. • A 16-year old Ohakune youth was arrested and charged with assault with the intent to rob. The charge follows an incident outside the Hot Lava Nightclub on Sunday 24 April. • A 20-year old Ohakune man was arrested and faces charges relating to cheque offences that occured during December 1992. • Overnight 26/27 April, 50-60 litres of petrol was syphoned from two vehicles parked in a carport in an Islington Street, Raetihi address. Police are also investigating a further incident at the same address three nights later, when offenders forced entry into one of the vehicles and in doing so caused considerable damage. Enquiries are continuing. • A Ferruno 18-speed mountain bike was stolen from outside Price Cutters, Raetihi on Tuesday 27 April. • Vandals caused considerable damage to the foyer of the Ruapehu District Council's Service Centre in Raetihi sometime over the weekend. Staff encountered broken windows and disrupted books in the foyer of the library, and in the New Zealand Post Agency - scorched paintwork to a door, apparently caused by a cigarette lighter. A window had also been damaged in the incident. Police are following several leads of enquiry. • Overnight Saturday 1 May between the hours of 6-9.30pm, a Ranfurly Terrace, Raetihi residenee was entered and several items stolen. Offenders gained entry through a laundry window and stole a chainsaw valued at $1,800, work boots and oil-skin leggings. • Two cars in Ohakune were broken into on separate occasions. A vehicle parked in Railway Row, and a second vehicle in Arawa Street were entered and miscellaneous items of prOperty taken.
