College slight

• We are writing on behalf of the pupils of Ruapehu College in reply to the comments made by the Apostolic Church at the Squash Club licence hearings. (6 April 1993 in the Ruapehu Bulletin) As pupils who attend Ruapehu College we find it disturbing that you refer to our school as a place where the consumption of alcohol

is encouraged. In our opinion and that of our parents Ruapehu College is a fine school. Our parents see no reason to send us away for an education. We see the new squash complex as a great addition to the existing sports facilities in the Waimarino. We note that with the hours the squash club will be open, they will be utterly responsible in their

obligation not to serve liquor to minors. We feel that Pastor Mason's comments were a slight on the staff, pupils and parents of our school. Have faith in us - . we know how to make the right choices.

Editor's note: the above letter came with 76 pupils' signatures in support.
