Rabuka visits

Major General The Honourable Sitiveni Rabuka took a trip down memory lane when he visited Waiouru Military Camp last Thursday. It was his first visit to New Zealand since assuming control of Fiji in the 1987 coup. Major General Rabuka requested that he spend time in Waiouru during his trip. In particular he wanted to visit the School of Tactics and School of Infantry where he trained earlier in his military career. Major General Rabuka's visit began with a Maori welcome after
which he was presented with a mere by Colonel Mortlock, Commander Army Training Group. He was accompanied by two Maori warriors fo' the inspection of the 50-man guard of honour that followed. While Mrs Suluweti Rabuka and the other women visited Waiouru Primary School Major General Rabuka was shown the changes made at the School of Infantry and Officer Cadet School. Major General Rabuka was able to observe both the Regular Force Platoon Commanders Course and Turn to page 2

From page 1 the sniper course in action. Before lunch he took part in a Kava ceremony conducted by Peter Kalavati. A tour of the Queen Elizabeth II Army Memorial Museum completed his four-hour visit.
RAL are looking towards 1994 with additional ticketing machines and more emphasis on the sale of tickets off the mountain.
