Dogs not gone from streets?

Dogs should not be banned from the business areas of Raetihi and Ohakune, the Waimarino Community Board feels. Board member Bob Peck said at their meeting last week that there was no point in making rules that could not be enforced. There was some discussion on whether signs should be put up pointing

out that dogs should be on a lead in those areas. "But dogs can't read," said Mr Peck. Board members agreed that roaming dogs were a problem, not only in commercial areas but on recreation reserves. "If we had two, three or four dog rangers, then we could enforce such rules," said Mr Peck.
