'Big Flick' visits home town

Big Flick, the pink fire engine visited Ohakune on Sunday, because the town used to be its home. The engine, a D 600 Ford fire appliance that left Ohakune about five years ago, was bought by ice cream parlour chain owner Peter Gribble for promoting his products, He and three friends took the engine around the North Island as part of the Variety Club Bash, a fund-raising event that raked in $450,000. Big Flick's crew weren't first home, but they did win a trophy for 'bribery and corruption', but it was stolen (how apt?). Ohakune firemen told the crew stories surrounding various dents and scratches on the machine.
