Bank for Waiouru?
One of the trading banks is considering plans to build a branch in Waiouru. Listed in the schedule of land use applications to the Ruapehu District Council is the application from the New Zealand Army "to erect a building for a bank", partly on road reserve, on the corner of State Highway 49 and Ruanui Street. Among others on the schedule was an application from the Ohakune
Squash Rackets Club to "have a liquor licence at the squash courts", situated at Ruapehu College, Tainui Street. The hearing for this application was to be held yesterday. Among subdivision applications was one for 22 new sections in Miro Street, Ohakune, near South Ridge subdivision. The council heard that this application, from Nicollson & Sherratt, was being re-
viewed because of a possible drainage problem. An application from Railcorp Properties to create five new sections at the Ohakune Junction rail yards is proceeding, with details on access having been requested. "Waiting for fee payment" is the comment listed next to the application from Carter Holt Harvey to create 13 new lots in Carters Terrace, in Ohakune.
