Fun to run

Numbers may have been down, but the spirits of those who competed in the annual Ohakune Plunket Fun Run, were high. Organisers attribute the drop in numbers to the wintry conditions experienced on the weekend, but some 50 runners still turned out to take part in 4km and 8km events. Results were: 4kmBen Goddard, 21.45 (men); Jocelyn Cranston, 28.00 (women); Scott Goldfinch, 17.42 (secondary boy); Cathy Cranston and Katrina Marsh lst=, 24.22 (secondary girl); Joshua Goddard and Brad Hays lst=, 21.45 (primary boy); Donna Cranston, 21.57 (primary girl); Bob Tumataroa, 24.00 (first pushchair). 8km- Chris Thrupp, 26.14 (men); Margaret Black, 34.48 (women); Chris Bennett, 38.14 (secondary boy); Dorothy Kyle, 37.10 (secondary girl). Cathy Horne thanked local businesses for their generous sponsorship of this year's event. While a poor money-spinner

with regards to fundraising, Mrs Horne said the Fun Run enjoys a good following and will remain a fixture
