Tourism expert takes on Turoa marketing
Joanna Savage from the New Zealand Tourism Board has been appointed marketing manager for Turoa Ski Resort. She currently works in the Tourism Board's high profile brand and joint venture area where she has been responsible for upwards of 50 projects including all the ski related ones. Having been a keen skier all her life Joanna
has extensive experience of ski resorts throughout Europe, North America and New Zealand. More recently as a Wellingtonian travelling up to ski on weekends, Joanna has developed a love for Turoa. "I am incredibly excited about this new position. It is a fantastic opportunity to combine my background in tourism marketing with my love
of skiing." Having recently purchased a ski lodge in Ohakune she says Ohakune is really starting to come alive as an apres ski town. "It's ideally placed at the bottom of the mountain and when your legs get too tired to ski there are all sorts of other adventure activities to get involved in." Joanna also manages
the tourism board's interest in 'The New Zealand Way' brand - a joint project with Tradenz - to promote an umbrella brand for all New Zealand exporters and tourism organisations. Previously Joanna has managed the strategy development and campaign launch for 'Kia Ora', a major and on-going tourism industry initia-
tive to encourage New Zealanders to use 'Kia Ora' more widely as our unique greeting. Joanna is a joint honours graduate from London University and has been living in New Zealand for five years. Joanna takes up her new position at Turoa on Wednesday 24 March.
