Raetihi garden club winners

Two competitions recently held in Raetihi proved the members of the local Garden Club have been very busy in their 'patches' this year, with a high standard of competition. Judges from Ohakune and other clubs adjudicated in the two events - The Town and Country which is based on a detailed 'walk-through' the competing gardens for the judges and the Civic Pride award which is measured by the appearance of the gardens from the street. The garden of M & D Hemopo received the top placing in the Town and Country and also reached third place in the Civic Pride event. This latter event was won by the brilliant colour display of K & J Ratima. The winners and photos of the two top gardens are on display at the Raetihi Information Centre. Placings were: Town and Country - 1st M & D Hemopo, 2nd J & N Fredrickson, 3rd L & N Graham (and kids) and 4th K & J Ratima. Civic Pride - 1st K & J Ratima, 2nd M & K Haitana, 3rd M & D Hemopo, 4th B & E Anderson and 5th E & A MacLean.
