PM to open Squash Courts

The Ohakune Squash Club courts will be officially opencd by Mr Bolger and used for play for the first time this Saturday. The committee are keen to have as many people as possible to take part and try out the new courts.

Programme Friday 26th - 7-9pm: Final Registration time for Saturday games. 9pm: Auction of first games followed by draw of game times for Saturday. Saturday 27th - Ilam: Address by President, Mayor and official opening by Rt. Hon. J B Bolger. 11.30am: Morning tca. 12 noon: Opening games begin. 5.30pm: Celebrity game. 6pm: BBQ ($5). All intending members or indeed anyone who would just like to see how the game is played are most welcome. A special invitation is also extended to the surrounding squash clubs to come and have a game on

Saturday. It is hoped that many of the Waimarino members will be able to come and take part in what will be the first of many events between the clubs. No games have been allowed on the courts until after the official opening day proceedings on Saturday. Anyone wanting to have a game on the Saturday can do so by contacting K'ath Campbell (3858-225) or John Laurenson (3858489) by Friday or by coming along to register at the courts on Friday evening between 7 and 9pm. There is no cost to play and some rackets will be available if neccssary. Players will need non-marking shoes however. At 9pm on Friday an auction will be hcid for Saturdays very first games. It is hoped that individuals or businesses will join in the spirit of this fund-raiser. There will only ever be one first -game on each court. Following the auction, a draw will be done for times for the remaining Saturday games which will commence at mid-day after the official opening. A barbequc tea will be available at 6pm at a cost $5.
