Mountain classic golf
The 1993 Mountain Classic Golf Tournament was played at Waiouru on 6 February 1993. The tournament attracted 127 players from 31 different golf clubs. The day dawned very cool but improved all the time to provide perfect playing conditions. The low scores throughout the day were testament to the condition of the course and the day was enjoyed by all. On Sunday the brave ones returned to play in the Connie Rainbird Greensome Foursomes, a mixed tournament that attracted 74 players. Once again the conditions were perfect and excellent scores were posted. Some very tired golfers left on Sunday afternoon for home after a thoroughly enjoyable weekend. The highlight being a hole-in-one by Judith Brazier from Tawhero on the Saturday. Judith has only been playing golf for a year and she scored her ace on the 11th hole. The Mountain Classic was won by Dave Tarrant from Marton with a gross 144.
