cheques from inside. That's a lesson in not leaving attractive items in view inside your vehicle. • A nasty incident occurred the previous weekend when a local woman was assaulted by two persons on the main road in Waiouru. The woman was kicked, punched, knocked to the ground and kicked again. Fortunately, the woman suffered injuries that were not as serious as they could have been. A 30-year-old local man and a 25-year-old Dannevirke woman were arrested and face assault charges. • Last week, a north bound vehicle with three Asian tourists, lost control north of the Desert Road Summit and crashed into a bank. Two of the occupants were taken to Wanganui Hospital suffering back injuries. On Thursday afternoon another vehicle, this time with three Australian tourists travelling south, attempted to pass a

military convoy on Dump Hill. The vehicle crashed into the Workshop's wrecker, as the truck turned right into the Airport road. No injuries were sustained in this accident. • We now have received all the new documentation and application forms for those wishing to obtain

firearms licences. For those current firearm holders called up to renew their licence, the fee is $65. You must also provide two passport size photographs. For those who wish to apply for a new licence, you must call at the office with $75 (non-refund-able) and two passport Turn to page 3

Because of the length of time now in processing and vetting applicants, firearm queries and applications will only be done at this office on Wednesday mornings, between 9 am and 12 noon. On these days and times one of us will be present at the station to handle applications. Firearm applications will not be accepted outside these times.
