Raetihi pool cover plans released

Plans for the "Chills Off" project were made public at a meeting in Raetihi last week. The new covering structure of the Raetihi Memorial Swimming Pool will feature stretched roof fabric on Boral Acrow space structure in an arch shape, stretching over the length of the pool and existing building. Other features include sliding glazed doors and a solarium, built on the northern face of the pool. One of the major advantages with the planned system is that natural sunlight will filter through the translucent fabric as well as through the solarium

panels, to help warm the pool. Chills Off organisers have found

that other pools in the central North Island have turned out to be colder

after being covered because the natural heat of the sun is shut out.
