Who is to be

Miss Raetihi?

Who will be the new Miss Raetihi? Find out on Saturday at the Raetihi Market Day. The pageant is just one of a number of special things to see at the annual Christmas Market Day, organised by the town's retailers.. About 75 girls will vie

for awards in the pageant, which includes Miss Personality, Miss Panache, Junior Miss Personality, Junior Miss Raetihi, and, of course, Miss Raetihi herself. The pageant commences at 12.30pm, and the winner will be

performing duties at the market day after the announcement as to who she is. Also featuring on Saturday is the Hamilton-based band "Country Boys" with special guest Kenny Hughes. Mothers can enter their loved ones in the Baby Show and the kiddies can get their faces painted. All kinds of competitions will be held, including the "Needle in the Haystack", a crayfishing competition and woodchopping. • Quickfire raffles will be held throughout the day, so you have to be in to win. Bennetts will have Father Christmas stopping in to their "cave" to meet the kids and have photos taken, following his parade and lolly scramble. In addition to cake stalls and sausage sizzles, most shops will have their own stalls out front with all sorts of Christmas goodies. McLeans Bookshop has a Lotto Superdraw and Miss Raetihi will be presenting all sorts of giveaways there. There will be food aplenty, including a haangi and Chinese cooking.
