The Tongariro Experience

You can experience some of the delights and treasures of the Central North Island - Tongariro National Park, Kaimanawa Forest Park, Tongariro Forest, the Reserves of Lake Taupo through the Department of Conservation DoC has organised a wide range of guided activities, high and low, easy and strenuous to satisfy all abilities. Here's your chance to discover the fascinating underground life in a cave, feel the magnificence of our, forests, share in the excitement of scaling a volcanic peak, try heli-1 hiking or heli-biking, or maybe find glimpses of our past. DoC has kept our activity charges as low as possible. Activities leave from the Department of Conservation Visitor Centres in Taupo, Turangi, Whakapapa and Ohakune. Bring your friends, your lunch and suitable clothing.
