A successful CCS house-to-house collection was held on 23 November. Spokeswoman Nancy Winter reported the total from Raetihi was $429 and from Ohakune was $211.50. All the money collected in the towns is spent in the area, assisting registered handicapped and disabled people. The committee of six, who supervise distribution of the money and organise local fundraising efforts, thanked the Raetihi volunteer collectors and the Ohakune Scouts for their work in the house-to-house appeal. "We are always grateful for the generous response the people in the area show the appeal," said Mrs Winter, who noted the totals are still very high considering the population.
