Bi-lingual unit are winners

Raetihi School's bilingual unit pupils wero winners at the Tongariro Regional Cultural Competitions held at Manu Ariki Marae near Taumarunui recently. The 34 pupils perfformed in the junior section, winning the Taupo Nui A Tia carved trophy. They wero judged on whakaeke (walkon); whaikorero (speech - Richard Ormond), nga moteatea (lament), waiata a ringa (action song) haka, wakawate (walkoff). Clay Winter and Richard Ormond also won the male kaea. With the win the group has qualified for the national contest to be held at the Manu Ariki Marae next March. Christine Rawiri and Colleen Hansen coached the group.
