Pink Ladies get out & about Any one who has been a patient in the Waimarino Health Centre may know of the visits the 'Pink Lady' voluntee;rs make most Tuesdays and Thursdays. These visits were started by Eve Rush and served a very useful purpose when the Centre had many long-term patients, Recently it has been felt that more valuable and rewarding use of these volunteer's time could be made by helping with the increasing number of elderly out in the community. With the changes to the Health system's direction, more people are staying in their own homes and are cared for by health workers such as the District Nurse, Sonia Robb. To relieve Sonia of some of the less skilled tasks which she finds take up a lot of her time it has been proposed that the 'Pink Ladies' visit the elderly in their homes. At this stage there are only 10 people on the 'Pink Lady' roster and none of these people come from Ohakune. The organiser of the group, Margaret Bennett, would like anybody, especially Ohakune people, who feel they could spare a little time to join the 'Pink Lady' roster, to fill in the form below. It is proposed to have two people rostered on for each week, who Sonia could call on to undertake the various tasks she may encounter in the week. If possible Tuesdays and Thursdays would continue as 'Pink Lady' days but other days may be necessary depending on the elderly 's needs ie Doctor'fc clinics. Anybody with queries about the volunteer group can contact Margaret Bennett. Ph: 3854-684.
