Last month was a part ticularly busy one at thd Raetihi Cosmopolitarj Club, with the start of thd Centenary Beardl Growing competitionj continuing, now until February 1993. On 3 October, thJ club's 8-ball playerl travelled to the National Park Club for the chaml pionships. Available fol the winners was thl Carmicheal Transl port/Barrett anl Taura/Lilburn Transpoil joint-sponsored shielcl won again this year bl the Raetihi team. This il the second win fol Raetihi since the compel tition for the shield wai started in 1990. A 'Beer or the Bagl show was held 2l October. Russell Harris I radio personality from Palmerston North, actel as compere for the ful evening which gave thl contestants the chance ti win prizes ranging froil miniature bags of ve M etables to 'BlueH Brothers'-style surl glasses, sports bags anl sponsors products. Thl contestants included I Littlewood, M Hall, E ari R Carmichael, | Herewini, M Mills, I Langdon, J Mosen, I Arohanga and | Frederickson. These l| won a good selection I prizes in a stiff contest I wits. Up-coming evenl this month include ttfl Christmas social f(H members and bona-ficl guests on Saturday November, with musH supplied by 'RhapsochM Auckland's top dance ari show band. The firl judging of the beartH growing will also be hel this night. The club H also hosting a senior ciH izens Christmas socil on Wednesday 2H November. Anyone ovl 60 is very welcome to aH tend, as club or other oH ganisations membershl is not needed to be abH to attend.
