Body builders in nationals

Waimarino bodybuilders Ana Brien and Carys Hubbard have been representing the area well in recent body-building competitions around the country organized by the New Zealand Federation of Body -builders. Waiouru 's Ana Brien

(20) won the Wellington Championships in August whilst Ohakune 's Carys Hubbard (18) gained 2nd place in the Central North Island Championships at Hamilton in October. These placings qualified them to compete at

National Championships at the Aotea Centre, Auckland, last weekend. Both Ana and Carys competed in the Junior Women's class amongst a top field of entries and although unplaced they were well satisfied with their achievements as Ana had not competed for a number of years and for Carys it was a good first year of competition. The judging was positive and encouraging and Ana was judged to have performed the best routine of the day out of some 116 finalists! _After the competition both planned to have a few days off before enduring the required strict training regime of nutrition awareness and the heavy gym work in order to build even finer physiques.
