Medals for Waiouru soldiers

BY

JAN

SAVELL

Four Waiouru soldiers received Long Service and Good Conduct Medals at a command parade recently. Cpl Steven Vartha, Sgt Micjiael Hinton, SSgt Purvaaute Tangiora and W02 Grant Robb received medals which represent 16 years with unblemished records of service. Commandant for the Army Training Group, Colonel Clive Sinclair, congratulated the medal recipients and emphasized the significance of the award for both the soldiers and their families. "This represents a joint effort and the award is not achieved without a personal sacrifice on behalf of the families of the soldiers. My congratulations to you all," he said.

Museum staff gave a unanimous "yes" and the North Africa display passed its first authenticity test! Guests from the local community and tourist operators were treated to a tour of the new display and lunch 'a la North Africa'.
