Badminton

by Elayne Weller Club President A busy Badminton season for all members has come to an end. Once again large numbers started the season, but only the keen stayed until the end. The annual toumament was a success and enjoyed by all who played. Wanganui Interclub was hectic this season seeing Ohakune 1, A reserve coming second equal and Ohakune 2, A reserve coming third. Ohakune B Grade team came second also, in their round. Monday saw the prizegiving and wind-up for the season. A yankee toumament was held which saw Jocelyn Cranston winning with the highest score, Janine taking the prize for lowest score, Ken Young highest score and Jason Gordon lowest score. Marie Cranston took the prize for most promising and improved lady, Merv Fielding the most promising and improved male player. Club Champs for the seniors were played a few weeks early with some

very hard games. Games were fought out to the last showing that all players are fairly even and that next season will be harder still. Results: Elayne Weller club champ (ladies), Jocelyn Cranston runner-up, Kaye Young plate winner, Ken Young club champ (men), Ned Wanoa runner-up, Evania Rennee B Grade winner, Lois Lind runnerup, Colin Cranston B Grade winner, Merv Fielding runner-up, Rachel C Grade winner, Janine runner-up, Stcven Burgess C Grade winner, Andre Moore runner-up, Dcan Smith plate winner. Club President Elayne Weller thanked her team of Marie Cranston, Ned Wanoa and Brent Palmer "We make a good ' team, thanks for all the coaching when it was 1 given and even sometimes when I didn't want it. See you next year, when maybe we will make the finals. In whatever it is you all do these holidays, do it safely, have a good break and we will see everyone back : next season."
