Pony club news

Recentiy the Waimarino Pony Club started its season with a Quiz Night, with a good turnout by both branches. The evening, starting with a Pot Luck Tea, saw competition between five mixed - branch teams and two adult and two childrens branch teams, each match being of five rounds. The winners in the children' s event, with an excellent quick-fire round result were the team of S Williams (Captain), K Richards, B McGregor, M Fredrickson and R Scarrow. The adult overall winners were Raetihi - M Williams, R Roke, R Hyland, R Morris and A McGregor. From this, two branch teams were selected to go

on to the King Ccuntry Club quiz night. After being postponed due to bad weather, this most enjoyable evening saw teams from Raetihi, Ohakune, Taumaranui and Kaitieke competing for the trophy this year, Ongarue not entering a team. After a tough contest Ohakune came out as winners, with Raetihi in second place for the first time in four years, having been the trophy holders all that time. The winning team were M Mitchell (Captain) A C Woon, V Duigan, K Richards and R Hill. Raetihi's team on this night were S Williams, M McGregor, C Morris, C Eggenton and C Hyland. Rosettes for third and fourth place went to Taumaranui and Kaitieke.
