Entertainment on the slopes

Whakapapa have some excellent entertainment and events in store for spring. Saturday, September 26, the NZ Skier magazine open masters race is being run in the Te Heu Heu Valley. Anyone 30 years and upward is eligible for the handicapped race which

will have nine age groups. On any one of the multitude of fine days which we know Mt. , Ruapehu will be blessed ; with this spring, you can buy lunch at one of the DB Export barbeques Whakapapa will be having. Live music is also

planned for the Knoll Ridge Cafe on fine days. Marketing manager Scott Lee is looking for a good excuse to have another Champernay champagne day after celebrating the two metre and four metre snow base levels, but missing out on the three metre drinkies because it was

snowing. Turoa kicks off October with three twilight skiing days on the lst, 10th and 19th. Turoa card holders will be able to ski for $1 on the 2nd, and the hilarious Dummie Downhill race is on the 3rd. Live music by Rum Jungle will be playing

on the 4th, the Columbia Sportswear Disabled versus Abled Downhill race is on the 10th, to enter see the Turoa Info office on the day. Give a pair of Big Foot a try on the demo day October 11th then bust a gut, or cheer on the competitors, in the Peak to Powderkeg race

on the 14th; a ski, bike, run and skull event from the top of the High Noon T-Bar to the tavern at eh bottom of the mountain road, Ohakune. There's horizontal bungy jumping at the top of the Parklane chairlift on the 15th, and a 1993 season's pass is up for Turn to page 12
