Thomas Ian Hemara, 18, market garden hand of Ohakune, pleaded guilty to charges of assault, assault with a weapon and intentional damage. Court heard how he had been one of a'group of people who threw

rocks at the Snow Rock Restaurant and Bar in Ohakune Junction at 3 am on 9 August and returned later at 4am with a knife and attacked part-owner and licensee Stephen John Tier. On 13 August Hemara was in the public bar of the Ohakune Hotel at 8pm and assaulted bar manager Richard Toa using a snooker jigger which he threw at complainant. He was remanded to appear for a probation officers report and sentence and told that he must not enter licensed premises in the meantime. Counsel: Sheryle Proctor of Wanganui.
