Last October the RDC resolved to replace community boards with nonstatutory committees. This was strongly opposed by the Waimarino Community Board and the RDC reversed its decision. Unfortunately not ail Waimarino councillors supported the retaining of community boards. The Waimarino has only 3 out of 14 members on the council and we can be completely out voted. But by retaining a strong community board based here in the Waimarino we wiil ensure local people wili have a strong say in locai affairs. II elected to council i wili strongly support the retention of community boards. Winston Oliver. Candidate: Ruapehu District Council Waimarino Community Board.
