New rubbish system rubbished

• The district council contracted the rubbish collection out so why don't the contractors pick it up, after all it is in a bag. We of the oldies who worked in the borough rubbish pick up, handled every thing by hand and we were proud to see our streets and housing areas nice and tidy every day but not so today as winter brings an avalanche of skiers and their followers to ski, eat and be messy, for tomorrow never comes. I do not agree with the health officer Mr Colin Turner that there is no health risk in rubbish and rotting garbage for rats left on roadsides. It is unbelievable that

a health officer condones this practice of rubbish being left to make Ohakune town a dump. Thanks to progress. Thanks to the mighty dollar that has eroded the once proud Ohakune borough council to its present state, of no pride: Christie Park, Jubilee Park, swimming baths, town toilets our bush walks all neglected by the mighty $1.
