• A vehicle stolen from outside the Ruapehu Hotel, Raetihi on Thursday night was found later that night at Turoa Village. • The same night a car was taken from outside the Ohakune Hotel but found later by the sewerage ponds at Raetihi. Police Sergeant Bob Evans said it appeared the two thefts were linked. • A holiday home on Conway Street, Ohakune was broken into on Saturday while the occupants were away skiing. The burglars stole a large quantity of personal effects from the house. • The owner of a van parked outside the Ohakune Hotel on Thursday night noticed a person inside it and went to investigate. He grabbed the offender but was struck on the side of the head, leaving him unable to give chase. The offender dropped the van owner's tool box when he ran off.
