Bridge on Wednesday 2 September began with Ron Frew introducing a new member, Brian Mason, who was his partner for the evening. Brian and Ron played well together and scored 57.07% to take second place east-west. The east-west competition was won by Les Burns and Pauline Le Noel who scored 59.60%. The north-south competition was won by Mark Hays and Bob Tumataroa with a score of 60.55% while second place went to Tephany Bennett and Sarah Hamlin who were promoted up the placing to dislodge Ron Martin and Heather Cranston.
