Road closure concern
The Parapara Highway is being closed at times for the convenience of the contractor, according to Waimarino Community Board member Winston Oliver. "There often seems very little reason for stopping all traffic from using the road for minor works," said Mr Oliver at the last board meeting.
"Evidently the contractors are closing the road because they don't want the hastle of having to deal with directing traffic past the work sites." "But the inconvenience to the travelling public at large far outweighs any inconvenience to the contractor." he said. The board also dis-
cussed problems with communications regarding road closures in the area. "There 's been a real mish-mash of informa-
tion on road closures - the last six weeks have been a nightmare," said John Compton. The board asked for a report on the matters.
