The Ohakune Volunteer Fire Brigade responded to a wood shed fire on the RaetihiOhakune Road at 6.30am on Tuesday 1 September. Two fire appliances attended and extinguished the small blaze. Later in the morning the brigade attended a petrol-spillage in the New World carpark. Two fire appliances attended and washed out the car-park. On Friday 4 September at 10am the brigade attended a motor vehicle accident opposite Ruapehu Motors in Goldfinch Street Ohakune. Two vehicles were involved and one had struck a power pole bringing down live wires over the street and cutting the power for about

an hour. One person was taken to Wanganui Base Hospital. On Sunday 6 September at 5.15pm the brigade responded to a call to the Powderkeg. Two appliances attended and investigated but it proved to be a false alarm from a public phone in another part of town. On Friday 4 September at 5.14pm the Raetihi brigade responded to a motor vehicle accident at Horopito involving three cars and a motor-cycle. Two people were taken to the Waimarino Health Centre. Fire-fighters performed road control and cleared the road. The brigade also attended a chimney fire on Saturday 5 September in Islington Street Raetihi.
