RESTAURANT REVIEW Country Classic Lodge
By
MadamX
It was a cold snowy Saturday night when Mr X and I headed to Raetihi to the country classic Lodge for dinner. On arriving we were greeted by our host & hostess Barbara and Colin Fredrickson then directed up stairs to the bar and were served a glass of mulled wine around the fire which soon warmed us up. It wasn't long before we were feeling rather famished so we headed downstairs to the dining room, which is very relaxing and homely. Mr X started with the soup of the day which was Herb Zuppa, which is tomato with herbs and vegetables. I chose to wait until entrees which arrived shortly after. Mr X had deep fired brie with cranberry sauce, which
any cheese lover would enjoy. I had oyster vou la vont which was delicious. Next arrived our mains, mine was the beef medallions topped with tomato and cheese served with jacket potato and salad. Mr X chose the scotch fillet steak with mushroom sauce, he also decided to have salad instead of vegetables. By this time we were both feeling rather full but had to look at the dessert menu. I couldn't resist the home made apple pie and Mr X chose the chocolate caramel marshmellow torte. Both were served with
whipped cream and were yum. The meal was well presented and our waitress Heidi was very friendly. The country Classic i Lodge also caters for weddings/parties/func tions/small conferences. They have also started a "We drivt you" service with bookings.
